I saw that you have a "Bridgeboard" and are using it with OS3.1 which I think
would mean that you have upgraded the system for the bridgeboard
control….?????
Would you mind telling m a bit more about your set-up.

Amiga A2000, WB3.1, Kickstart 40.63 Workbench 40.42
1 meg Chip ram,
GVP "Combo card" 030 @40mhz with a Quantum 540M HD and 16 megs of fast ram
Picasso II,
Emplant Deluxe with external Quantum 540M HD and Apple CD300i CD-ROM
A2386 (Upgraded with a cyrix 486 chip) Bridgeboard with 8 megs of RAM, 200M
HD, 16bit Trident Video Card (in an 8 bit slot!), and 8 bit SCSI card.
2 Monitors, One VGA attached to the BB and a Panasonic Multisync on the Ami
It may not be the fastest, but it does everything I ask of it!
Now, to your BB question, I havn't modified -anything- on the Bridgeboard
side, in fact I'm running the first version of the Janus software that came
with the BB, I'd love the later versions but where on earth would such a
thing be available?. I use the Bridgebaord all of the time… mainly for
writing HTML (I Awrite the files to the Amiga and view them on the Amiga as
I write, plus Amiga scanning software that I've seen is rubbish so I use
the Bridgebords SCSI card to attach my scanner..
the only problem I have is that after switching on or booting the Amiga
with a three finger salute I have to warm boot the BB or Aread/awrite don't
work, this is a common bug..
Any help? 😉

I see from your message to Laurie, that you use a VGA card with your
bridgeboard.
Does your mouse (AMOUSE.COM) work correctly in 640 x 480 VGA modes ?
Just curious, because on my system, the mouse will only support EGA modes.

Sorry I can't be of any help on this one, I've never used Amouse or Flipper I
use 2 mice and have a Floppy on the BB.. this way I can use the Ami and my
Girlfriend can use the Bridgeboard at the same time.. apart form the fights
over the keyboard that is.. 😉

I am using Amouse.com with Novell DOS 7 on my 386 bridgeboard. Windows 3.1
is also installed and working as well as Windows can with Amouse3.drv for the
Windows mouse driver. On some graphics displays the x and y axis for the mouse
are swapped. But I've suggested a way around that problem that Marion J Deland
[72550,1733] published in her newsletter. If you can subscribe, I recommend
it.
The monitor attached to the 386 bridgeboard is a NEC JC-1401P3A which is a
small 14 inch multi-sync monitor. I'm using a VGA card that fits into an XT
slot. Dave Cinege [70322,447]'s multi-IO card also works with its VGA
interface.

I am having the same problem with the mouse on my bridgeboard. I finally
just put a mouse on the bbside serial port but now no modem :(. If you don't
mind my asking, what is your work around?

Marion J Deland [72550,1733] published my suggestion in her newsletter. If you
can find it, there is a Gravis Mousestick for the Atari and Amiga that is
programmable. The Mousestick was really designed to 'beat' the arcade, fighter
plane games and/or simulations. It happens that you can also switch the X and
Y axis on it. Consequently, you could use this Mousestick to defeat the bug in
the Janus mouse drivers on certain graphical displays. The Mousestick will
also store settings.
Anyway, my serial port is a 16550a UART on my 386 bridgeboard which ort is
used by my external V.34 28800 Bocamodem. (I wouldn't turn around for the
difference now that I have my Bocamodem, but there are better choices–see PC
Magazine and/or ZiffNet.) I'm using OZCIS 2.0d as my program to interact with
CompuServe.

I use Amouse on my BB with Windows 3.1 in 1080 x 768 and have never had
a problem. I do use two mice but they are both on the Amiga side using Amouse
on the second game port.
I have the problem that I can not use Amouse with OS2 as no matter what
I do, I can not activate com 2. I have the ports but nothing seems work for
com 2. Any ideas? Bob

hm, no idea, as I don't own OS2/Warp.
AFAIK you can't activate COM2 with the bridgebord, as COM2 IRQs and ports are
used to communicate with the AMIGA side of the system.
BTW, which version of AMOUSE do you have? Mine says V 1.7…

I have a similar arrangement here, but I have not added any ram to the
bridgecard. I'm using a 3000T now, but I have a couple of 2000's here on
reserve. I added a ATI Vga card and an I/O card (IDE,ser/par/flop/game) Also
have a Cyrix chip. The first Cyrix chip burned up so I made an Alluminum Heat
sink and the second one is working fine. Have you tried Win 95 with your setup?
I can't run anything other than DOS due to low ram. I have E586 Emplant, but it
is too slow for windows, and the bridgecard runs rings around it, at least that
is my observation. Wonder what it will cost to get 8 megs on the BB?

Hmmm.. that's worrying about the cyrix chip burning out, ..I stuck a heat
sink to mine, thus losing the only zorro slot I have left the damn thing's
so high..
I hav'nt tried windows '95 on the BB and I probably won't my girlfriend has
it on her DX66 486 and it's horribly slow.. (She does have all the fancy
backgrounds and noises on so she's asking for it IMHO..) ..I have a 486
Laptop that benchmarks 500% faster than the BB so I might put it on that
when I get some more RAM (only got 4M in it at the mo..)
You can get 4 megs of RAM for your BB from Power Computing in England, mine
cost about 150 pounds (230ish dollars at the mo..) and was well worth it,
the BB is very usable, ..as long as i'm patient.. 😉
