#not iff

I recently downloaded Earthx.jpg from the IFF files. Yet, when I wanted to
display it on Dpaint V it said it "Can't open. Not an IFF file" How do I open
files that are not IFF? Do I need a special program?

Steve,
Hello,
You will need to convert it to an IFF file format first.

You need a file viewer that understands the JPG format. If you have OS 3.x, it
has Multiview which can display them (if you have the right datatypes in your
Workbench). Otherwise, look at something like ViewTek from the Graphics
Utilities library in this forum.

Correct, that file was in JPEG format. To view it in DPaintV you'll need to
convert it first. There are many programs that will do that for you, both
commercial, PD, and shareware. There are even some viewers (ViewTek, for
example) that will display and then save it in other formats, like IFF. Check
the libraries for some of those programs. I'd suggest you search using the
keywords IFF, or JPEG, or convert.

Hi Steve
you will need something like:
gfxcon picture format converter by Dirk Farin
I think you'll find it on AMinet. If you have any trouble getting it, let me
know I file attach it to you. It's freeware as far as I know. Got it from the
Disk belonging to the Dutch AMIGA MAGAZINE
