re Image FX 1.5 I have the complete manuals but am confused by VEM..I have 16mb
fast ram and 030 on A1200…I specified 2000kb VEM to use but when I ask for an
oil transfer I get "cannot perform on disk based buffer..?' when I say ask
before using VEM it does it ok…but not when `always use vem'.the manual
refers to disk buffer in ROWS and yet my requester refers to KB..my version is
ugraded to 1.5 official. Are there any FAQ type files to refer to for a novice
in this programme. What should I set vmem to for my size machine. I have a
thing called VMM installed on the machine (came with it) that is a total
mystery to me and from what I read of the docs will probably stay that way for
a few decades..does it have any effect on the vmem in image fx..excuse me if
this is a very stupid question but…? Also wot is VTU? (`also if you read
VTU') very tough udder? Thanks…

Carey, the limitation of the Oil Paint effect was eliminated in 2.0/2.1 of
ImageFX – it works on virtual memory now. If you've got 16mb, then telling
ImageFX to use 8000kb (ie: 8mb) is more efficient and faster.

I'm glad kermit replyed to this. I have enough ram so that I am VERY rarely
asked if I want to use VRAM. I do HIGHLY sugest that you upgrade to 2.1. you
wont be disapointed. VTU is Video Toaster User magazine. It realy is about the
only magizine that covers the amiga here in the States (and that is only video
related stuff).
