I have a question re: Amiga CD ROMs. Do you know for a fact that any SCSI ROM
DRIVE will work with an AMIGA? I just bought the portable RENO from Media
Vision (complete with battery) and it works great on my PC. They told me it
will work on MACS and of course, AMIGAS too (which is one reason I went with
it–plus the fact that I can listen to music without turning on my computer all
the time).
Or do I need an extra something adapter/cable? I doubt that Media Vision knows
much about my Amiga 3000.

As long as you've got a SCSI adaptor on your Amiga, you _should_ be able
to use the CD-ROM.
You _will_ need drivers. Try the AmiCD (here on CIS), or one of the two
commercial drivers: AsimCD, or XetecCD.

So long as you have some sort of File System such as Asimware's CDFS, and SCSI,
you should be in "bidness" in no time.

Albert, all you need to do is connect your CD-ROM drive to the Amiga SCSI
port. Make sure your termination resistors are set according to where the
drive lies in the SCSI chain and your SCSI ID# does not duplicate any
other SCSI device you may already have (harddisks, etc,). Good Luck!

I also have a 3000 and the dealer in my town told me that some 3000's have a
bad chip in them that must be replaced in order to use a CD-ROM drive.
Unfortunately, I can't remember much about it.
Maybe someone else here can elaborate on this.
