Has anyone used the UK animation converter "Clarissa?" It's with the new CU
Amiga mag. They don't give much instruction w/it. It's supposed to use make
animations smoother and faster with a trick using the interlace mode. The
instruction mention that 50 f/s can be achieved. Is this the rate for PAL
video? LS
yes, it's 60fps for ntsc….it uses super smooth animation format which is
proprietary and needs a player program to view,some are available in this
forum
I have a player module with it (haven't figured that one out yet, either!). I
looked for the player you mentioned, in the file finder, w/ the keywords: SSA,
Clarissa with no luck! LS

Yes, Clarissa works with Fields instead of Frames. In most cases animations can
be played with 50 fields per second. But if the animation is too complicated
(too many pixels change from one field to another) ofcause, it comes to its
limits (or to the limit of the hardware.
But on my A4000/040 I can even play a HiRes:Interlace-screen with 256 colors
absolute smoothly. A4000/030 also (if not better)
Do you do video recording with the program, on PAL or NTSC? What are the
"limits" you refer to? Less than 50 f/s? LS

Ofcause can You record the Animations created or processed with clariSSA to
video if You have a Genlock (or at least a CVBS-Output). And as I wrote, the
limits are 50 fields per second and if the animation isn't too complicated (too
many colors and too much changes from one frame to the next) it will be played
absolutely smooth with 50fps.
clariSSA has also some features to optimize problematic animations to play them
as smooth as can be.
It is a must have, if you want to superimpose titles and animations in a
professional smooth way without the need of a digital video system like
V-LAB-Motion or PAR.
(Yes, I have a V-LAB Motion, therefore I don't use clariSSA very often but in
many cases I would be able to play my anim's with clariSSA)
But be warned: clariSSA is very powerful but has a rather steep learning curve
and the manuals are a bit poor. And don't think about the cheep Version
ClariSSA2.0. It misses nearly all of the advanced features. Buy the V3.0 pro or
the Easy set.

well, I have the cheap version (2.0) from CU Amiga mag. I see the ad for the
more expensive one. What does it have over the earlier version that you'd
recommend? BTW, are you from the UK and using it with a PAL setup? I'm just
wondering if the 50 f/s takes smoothly to the 60 f/s sync of NTSC. LS
