#lights moving w/ object?
7 messages in this thread
does anybody know of a way to attach a light(s) to an object so that it moves
with
and relative to the object? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
thanx in advance!
Garry,
Link the light as a child of the object. Have you done the tutorials?
They are the best investment in time you can make.

Paul:
thanks, but my question has to do with the 3d editor and not the keyframer. i
want
to merge objects with their own lights and position them into my currant
project.
(unless you are suggesting i do this in frame #1 in keyframer? hadn't thought
of
that.)

This is one of the most basic concepts of heirarchy and linking in the
Keyframer. I would suggest the tutorials provided with your software. They are
your friend indeed.

Mike; see my reply to Paul Sanford, thanx

Attaching lights to objects can only be done in the Keyframer. Simply make your
object with associated light, link, and then merge that project into another.
If you press the merge "animation" option, all the linking will come with it.
Be aware that when you start merging that you will also have to check lighting
exclusions. Objects that did not exist in your incoming file will have to be
exluded from lights existing in your target file, if that is your intention.
Better get Mark Meier's lighting IPAS utilities if you have loads 'o' lights.

thanks, my friend, that is what i will do! (what an age we live in)
