I am putting down individual frames to tape to be viewed on a laser disk as
individual pictures. the laser disk will stop on the frame and show the image.
if layed down as frames or fields then there is a flicker. Is there any way to
lay down field 1 twice.

Rock,
For viewing as individual frames, you definitely need to render without
fields – that is, in frame mode. Any flicker you're getting then is a result
of the interlace of field 1 & 2 for NTSC. Some applications will let you field
copy for a stable, lower-res still. I think Photoshop has a filter for this,
or you could set up 3DS's Video Post to duplicate fields.
