Good Morning, Can I still use the alpha-split function when using only a 24-bit video card? In the past I've been using a 32-bit Vista card with great success–but that seems to have gone dead on me. I'm thinking of replacing it with the Perception card from DPS. While this has some obvious advantages I would hate to loose the capability of layering scenes in Video Post using alpha support. Please advise. Any help appreciated, as I'm trying to come to a quick decision on this. Thanks, Dave Smyrk

Unfortunately, PVR doesn't support separate alpha channel, even loose the 8-bit information when you save a 32-bit tga. You can, as I do, make a split render, and use the 8-bit renders as a mask in Video-Post. For video composition, you ought to make 2 separate animations: one for fill (24-bit) and the other for key (8-bit). Francisco. Spain.

You won't have any problems running alpha-split regardless of the color depth of your display. The alpha channel is at a lower layer of code than the video drivers. LAM
