new Millen. drivers hang

Has anybody had success installing the new 1.0.8 drivers on a P5 Gateway with a Millenium card (or any machine with a Millenium)? When I reconfigure vibrant to use the millenium drivers, 3DS hangs just after the 3D editor opens (with no cursor showing). Testing various resolution options in the vibcfg'er also hang the machine. I've managed to limp on by choosing VESA again for the editor and Millenium 640x480x24 for the materials editor & render screens, but the renderer will often hang. This last seems to happen when there is more than a certain amount of brightness in the scene – eg. if I render a simple sphere with black background its OK, but change to a white or near white background and it hangs with a few lines of white at the top of the screen – is this correlation possible? I've had all kinds of miserable problems with the Matrox Millenium on my DEC P100. I can get into the editor now with the new driver, but hang when viewing an image or flic, or calling up any of the Yost IPAS routines (as well as some of the freeware ones downloaded here.) Not all of the IPAS routines have been a problem. I thought it was just my machine. Anyone else with this problem???

I'm going to try to install the Autocad drivers that came with the Millenium tomorrow. I have a technician from Digital coming to see whats up with my computer, and we'll try selecting something other than the Vibrant drivers. I'll let you know if I have any success.

Sorry, but the DEC tech was an idiot, and I was lucky anything worked after he left. However, the good news is that my 3D Studio dealer told me that Vibrant was putting the finishing touches on fixed Millenium drivers and should post them here on Friday. Cross your fingers!!!
