#3ds.prj file format?

I'm a sculptor who has backed into the computer world….oops!
I'm talking with a bunch of sharp unix heads at the hospital radiology
department of the university where I teach about doing some joint projects with
MRI scans and 3ds.
They have a program that converts voxels (mri image data) into triangles.
They have offered to try and write a program that would convert their data to
.dxf, 3ds.prj, or acis(Autocad r13 3d language) if I can supply them with the
specs.
Where would I find this information??

Did you ever get the answer to this one? What you need is the 3DS File
Toolkit. There should be some info in the libs, or you could call Autodesk's
800 #.
