#Max in London?

Dear Jonas,
I am a really looking forward to MAX. I have heard rumors that it will be
shown in London during the Computer Graphics Expo on the 28-30 of November. Can
you confirm or deny this please.

Ah!! Another potential MAX user in the UK. Have you heard anything about MAX
release policy in the UK, e.g. whether or not there will be an upgrade path for
people prepared to commit themselves prior to the release date (as in the US)?
I have tried asking Autodesk UK, but they said that they didn't know, and that
they couldn't tell me when they would know.

Gary, I had much the same problems until I wrote a really unpleasent message to
Autodesk US on compuserve, The result a long phone call with Nick Manning, who
is apparently the UK 3DS & associated programs, product manager. He actually
called me on Tuesday morning after I posted a message on Sunday night to Cathy
Clinton in the US. Anyway the info I got out of him is that MAX will be at the
Computer Graphics Expo (I already requested my free tickets) and that they will
be anouncing an upgrade policy , that he suggested will be VERY GOOD at that
show.
Hope that helps

Thanks David. I came across Nick Manning before, he seems to be a nice guy, but
I get the impression that he is neck deep in company politics. He did come up
with the goods eventually when I had problems upgrading from CDK1 to CDK2. I
guess he is not posessed by the devil after all. If we don't hear any more
about the MAX upgrade at the Expo I will give him a call, and let you know how
I get on. I know he likes talking to me.

I'm not so sure Gary, let's wait until after the Expo before we judge him <G>.
I definately agree about him being too deep in company politics but I think
that's just the typical attitude of Autodesk UK employees !…
Anyway back to being serious, how about meeting up at the Expo before
pursuading the Adesk stand to give us an answer, say which date youre planning
on going & perhaps we can gang up on Adesk and get a proper answer without
resorting to the baseball bats etc to get an answer <G>

Its just a hobby.

Good idea, safety in numbers. I might have to decide which day nearer the time.
Let me E-mail you with further details. Speak to you soon.

Dear Gary,
Well Its good to see I won't be the only person going to the Expo to check
out MAX. However I must spoil things a bit and tell you that I'm actually
American and I live & work in Belgium (Oostende). But I do sympathize, I find
it amazing how many American software companies just forget about us people
over here. I can understand delays for other language versions of software but
English versions??? I'm sure you can imagine the hoops I have to jump through
upgrading 3D studio from America when I tell them I live in Europe. I will hop
on the Eurostar and head to the Expo for a day or two. Hope to see you there.

Discussion of my views on this subject, so as to avoid offence, are avoided by
driving sharp piercing instruments into the palms of my hands (just like
Micheal Caine in the 'Ipcress File'). I know nothing about the petrol bombing.
Apart from that I am pretty well balanced.
