i cannot get a .flc to be transparent in Authorware 3.0. i did notice that the
background is 2,2,2 ? how do i fix this? i went ahead and saved the flc as
dib's and used animator pro to resolve,,,, so why bother with animator studio?

this is a known bug, James. 🙂
as to why use AAS instead of Animator Pro… if you don't know yet, explore the
program further as they are worlds apart in their capabilities. some very basic
quickies:
-AVI format compatible -programmable in c language
-24-bit capability -full palette control and editing
-airbrushing -optimized memory management
-onionskinning -color cycling
-editable motion-path keyframing -non-uniformed tweening
-audio integration / paint by sound -cel streaming and color fitting
-animated masks -non-linear scriptable player
the full list is extensive. <g> the two packages compliment each other very
well. enjoy.

i agree animator studio is much better… but why should i use it when it can't
even give me 0,0,0 for the background? it defeats the purpose of an upgrade. i
do all my work in animator studio now a days, but i have to go back into
animator pro to clean up the mistakes of AStudio.
Anyone know how to fix this problem or know when they will fix it? i would
consider this to be a major setback in my work. animator studio is Great but my
time frame for completing work stays the same.

again, James, find that neither package (Animator Pro and Animator Studio) is
"better" than the other without qualifying the task. for working on 8-bit
images and animations, Animator Pro is more optimized in its features and
memory management… for 24-bit images, AniPro is moot. <g> the two integrate
well… and though we have a known bug (2,2,2), this can be cured if you have
AniPro easily in seconds.
>> it defeats the purpose of an upgrade. <<
it depends how people are using the package. if they need the product to output
animations with (0,0,0) background values, yes this is a problem. when i look
at AAS's total feature set, this bug might represent less than 1% of the
overall functionality… ability to output 8-bit animations with a (0,0,0)
background… meanwhile… the other 99% functionality may be crucial to a
project.

even if this bug were fixed… i use animator pro in combination with AAS all
the time. especially for 8-bit effects.

yup. 🙂 there is no fix in the program at this time, but the problem is known.
