#PPP not connecting

I have installed AmiTCP 4.0 and PPP 1.30 on my A1000 WB 2.1 using the IINST151, but have not succeeded in connecting to CIS yet. The ppp.dial script terminates after sending user id and password, but after a little while I get the PPP failed message, apparently because the ENV:ppp0IpLocal file has not been created. The password has been accepted by CIS. There is a problem with the initial handshaking of the PPP protocol. What could be the problem and how do I fix it ? Regards, Jorgen ….from Roskilde, DENMARK (using CIS LATIN-1 char set)

Often I have that problem with a failure. Try late at night or this may seem strange but click the down arrow on the AmiTcp intro window I seem to have better success connecting. It is routine for the program to fail but the more I use it the more reliable it sees to become.

I have exactly the same problem as Joergen: I ran ther iinstall script alright, it dials alright, it connects to cis, but right after the password it fails. It is late at night now, but it still does not work. What else could be the problem? Michael Nicolaisen (Intel outside) Greetings from Germany

Michael, remember always, when it is here in Germany late night, in the US there is internet rush hour and the your node transfers your call to CompuServe USA! Can you find the dial script? In mine I have to substitute the last line with WAIT "PPP" but I installed all things manually without the install script, so I do not know if this is using the dialer of the ppp-package. Erich, that was one of the quickest answers I ever got. Thank you. I will try this out as soon as I can. I know about the time difference. Last night I tried to dial in via TERM doing my dial script "manually". It seemed to work, I saw garbled text after it connected. Maybe the WAIT "PPP" is a good idea. I will keep trying! What other program do you mean? Everybody here says the interinstall v.1.51 script works fine but it seems not to work for me. I get connected to CIS until it says PPP CONNECTION and then it stops with the PPP FAILED message. Michael Michael Nicolaisen (Intel outside) Greetings from Germany
