#Ani Pro .fnt & 3DS
9 messages in this thread
Hi Dave,
Jane back with another problem. When I registered my Ani Pro I received the 2
disk Bonus Pack of fonts. They work in Ani Pro
but each time I try to use them in 3DS I get all kinds of
errors and am popped back to DOS with part of the 3ds Screen
still there. I have copied them into the 3ds3/fonts directory,
still a no go. What have I missed. Are these fonts not
compatible with 3ds3? Thanks………………Jane

i don't believe they are, Jane. Animator Pro does come with a CDROM and bonus
disks which have PFB font types… these ARE compatible (and wonderful) for 3D
Studio. if you use Animator Pro with 3D Studio, there is no need to copy the
fonts from AniPro to 3DS directories. instead, go into 3D Studio and simply
expand the resource directories to also include Animator Pro's \RESOURCE\FONT
directory. cuts down file redundancy. 🙂 you can do this either in session, or
make modifications to the 3DS.SET file in 3D Studio directory so that Anmimator
Pro directories are always visible for materials, mapping, decals, and
resources like fonts. 🙂

Hi Dave,
Well, I was looking for something else and saw these AniPro Bonus disks and
found a font that I was looking for..HOBBIT.. and I wanted to use it. Wrong
thinking on my part as I assumed that fonts for AniPro and 3ds could be used
with both. Have the CD..will look there for the font. Sometimes when I try to
use a font in 3ds from AniPro directory (yes I have 3DS set to look at all
Ani's directories) I get the error that the letter are not in that font. I know
they are but..I guess these must be what I put there from the bonus Floppies.
When I bought AniPro, I did not have the memory to look at the animations..4
meg just does not do it, so I put it in the CD case and forgot about it. (also
had a 220 HD then).
Will have another look at it and hunt the fonts there. When I bought Animator
I was using a 286 and it ran great. OH how times have changed. Now times are
changing again, my 486DX2/66, 16 meg LB, with gig..still works great..but..I
see the writing on the wall :).. Thanks Dave..will CD it……………Jane

i remember searching for a guide to the FNT file format ages ago… never did
get an answer on that. <g>

Hi Dave,
CD does not have a HOBBIT font…but I am sitting here with 'TYPE on CALL' CD
from Adobe.. I have not installed the CD as Fonts take up room on the HD and a
gig 1.6 gets full quickly. I have not even popped it into the CD (which is sick
at the moment, but will read, if I can stand the noise :)…People do have a
love for certain fonts, my opinion on Hobbit is that all the letter are too
close but it is not my Call. Strange that AD would give a bonus of fonts that
could not be used with all AD programs..but a bonus is a bonus and I have not
complaints about that :)..Thanks Dave, nice to know you are here when Jane
needs help………………………..Jane
yep. Adobe's pulled a number of questionable stunts this year… their new
encrypted filters also made them incompatible with AStudio's filter ink. 🙁

Dave,
Are you telling me to forget the "type on call" as it would not be compatible
with 3DS? I do not use WP programs as home, nor at work if I can help it.. My
only use for FONTS are ANI PRO and 3ds..so if they are not compatible with
these programs..when why bother. The CD came with PhotoShop 3.0..well…maybe
that is a reason to get the 2 freebees..Opinion. Jane

nuff said….. Now what can I do with my 2 free fonts except use them in
PhotoShop 3.0.. (: .Jane And thanks!
