"Getting ready" to order the Micron dual 133. Price has come down $500 over the
last month – waiting for another $500 or so to come off with the introduction
of the dual 150 MHz. Will probably make the jump December or January. For tax
purposes, January will be better for me.

Bob,
Yeah, I'm waiting, too. If you're going for a dual machine, it's _doubly_ a
good idea to wait until Triton2 chipset's reported bugs get worked out, so you
can use pipeline cache.
BTW, how'd your UG meeting go? I attended one about 2-1/2 years ago, but an
hour each way seemed a bit much… maybe I should reconsider…

Does the Micron use the Triton 2 chipset??
My meeting went well – I covered World Builder in some detail, and an outside
guest came in to show Blob Sculptor 2.0a for DOS. I also learned that a version
is in the making for 3D Studio "Classic" (R4), and should be available soon. It
*might* be freeware, like the DOS version . . .

Bob,
Intel hasn't released Triton2 chipset yet… My info is 3rd-hand, someone (Mark
Pippin, I think) quoting from an Infoworld article recently. You'll be able to
tell when it's available — when they offer pipeline cache/EDO RAM on SMP
systems.
Sounds like a good meeting to have attended; I've been curious about
WorldBuilder, wondering if it's really worth nearly a grand…
Any idea yet what's on tap for next month?

So far, I only have one speaker locked down. Sanford Kennedy, who had the
roadrunner model on a recent cover of 3D Artist, will be showing Organix, the
new meatball modelling tool from Digimation (and Video International??)
Hoping to get another presenter to round out the show. If not, my partner in
the meeting (Dave Carroll) will probably cover the two bones programs, since
our group showed alot of interest in this topic, given all the attention now
being paid to blob modellers. Animating them is the next logical step.
If released, I may cover the Blob Sculptor ipas from the folks that made the
freeware DOS and Windows Blob Sculptor. (The Windows version is now bundled
with some other stuff by Visual Software).
