#PVR vs ???
5 messages in this thread
Viewing all the material on Hardware seems to show chat on PVR. Is there no
other similar products for the sake of asking, for use with 3DS4? And is there
any reason to believe that this equipment will be fully operative with Max?
Year end expenditures dictate buy now but not keen on obsolescense.
And to demonstrate ignorance, one presumably renders to the system HD and then
somehow transfers to the PVR dedicated HD for subsequent output to tape or
whatever, Yes/No?
Thanks for whatever help you can give as I try to get up to speed on this
animation thing.
1996 is the year for motion for us after years of building complex models in
ACADr13 etc. Now to put them to motion.

There are similar devices, but they are much more expensive or the quality
isn't even close. The closest quality and pricewise is the DPS PAR from the
same company.

Since the PVR was designed for NT it should work real well with MAX. Speed
Razor is designed with the PVR in mind.

You can render straight to the PVR or to your system HD. I usually render to my
system HD and save frames for later compositing or other image manipulation.
How is it possible to render from 3DS straight to the PVR? There's no
IPAS for this, as there is with the PAR, and the dedicated SCSI drive isn't
visible to 3DS.

A brand new product is the PLUM card. You might've seen their ad in the latest
New Media. Depending on how deeply they discount it, it might be an
alternative down the road. Right now it's around $5999 list, but it does
include some audio capabilities.
