"Pls. insert floppy"

On bootup my A3K asks for a floppy to be inserted in the disk drive. I've seen
this discussed before, and the answer seems to be to change a setting that will
slow the boot sequence down enough to allow time for the harddrive to spin up.
Would someone please indicate what, and where, this setting can be changed?

My A4000 does that, too. I just reboot several times until it "catches." 🙂

Hmmmm, not a very elegant solution!!
Actually you are right, it isn't a big deal, but it is to my wife who doesn't
like to see something she doesn't understand on the screen, so she makes it
"my" problem.

You have to see the screen to understand. If the machine is booted without a
hard drive, and no bootable floppy in DF0: a purple colored screen is seen with
an animated disk being inserted into the image of a disk drive.
It is scary at first, your first thought is that your hard drive has been
trashed.

oh that's a natural occurence… all that means is that you nedd to reset again
because the drive did not pin fast enough the first try this meansthough that
some file may have gotten corrupted and disksalvv2 shareware canfix the drive
and remove andattemp repair on the file. it happens tome alot.. the firt timeit
happened i really fgotscared…. since idid not have theinstall disk, i thought
imighthave to reinstall ados… andi stillcna't recover my hard drive
parttitondata for hdtoolbox… <i deleted the drive definitions table>

I'd love to try disksalv on my hard drive, but I've never had the courage. My
knees get wobbly and cold sweat breaks out when I think about messing around
with all those files!

disk salvworks it does fix the drive, but not always successful in recovering
damaged files
use Disksalv v3.0 and amifile safe system together for superfast disk
access,and super duper harddrive recovery software total price $39.00 for each
from softwarehut
No elegant solution but it works: insert a line
wait 1
at the top of your user-startup. This causes the system to wait a second. If
that isn't enough you have to try with wait 2 and so on.
