FW-4 Problem…
4 messages in this thread
I'm having a little inconvenience with FW-4. Every so often, I get a Guru and
have to reboot. Sometimes, this invalidates my hard drive. This happened this
past Friday, just before I turned my computer off for the weekend (it's at
work).
Now, thanks to the abilities of the Amiga, my hard drive re-validated itself
this morning shortly after I turned it on. The problem/inconvenience is that
when I started FW4, none of my preset info was used: 1) It prompted me, at
start-up, for which screen to use. 2) It loaded the ORIGINAL default screen
with the default tool/button bars. 3) It completely ignores my customized
button strips. 4) It no longer shows any of my styles except when I load a file
with those
styles saved.
Can anyone suggest a remedy? Can you also suggest how I can retrieve my
customized info?
Thanks…

All of the customized info is contained in a file named
finalwriter/fwfiles/fw.prefs. Perhaps this file became corrupted when your
hard drive went down.
I just reloaded FW4 and am getting weird responses..hmmmmmm

Sounds like your harddrive ate your custom files (or maybe the path pointing
to them). Do you have them backed up?
You might want to search through the FW directories and see if you can find
them. Otherwise, you might have to set them up again.
I'd suggest you post over in the Softwood section of the Amiga Vendor forum
if you still can't get it fixed. I'm sure Softwood would be more than happy to
help you out. Good luck!
