HELP!!! I not sure what's happened, but my system (windows-for-workgroups 3.11) hangs when I try to load a 3DS file into the modeler. I had been using Lightwave REV A with excellent results importing 3DS (version 1 thru 4) meshes. However, as soon as I upgraded to REV B, my system hangs. When I use CTL-ALT-Delete to abort the program, I am told the system is busy and to press Enter to return to the Application. When I do, sometimes the system immediately aborts windows, sometimes the computer re-boots, and sometimes the screen goes black. If I try to re-enter windows, or only do a soft system re-boot (CTL-ALT-DEL) I can't get back into windows. I must switch the computer off (a Hard Reboot), in order to use windows again. My system is an NEC Ready 9530, 120Mhz Pentium with 16 Megs of RAM. I have been troubleshooting the problem as follows: 1. I had installed SoftRam since installing REV A. So, I removed SoftRam. Then, when I tried to load a 3DS file into REV B, I got this system message: EMM386 has detected error #6 in an application at memory address 00B8:0B9F. To minimize the chance of data loss, EMM386 has halted your computer. For more information, see the readme.txt file. Tor restart your computer, press ENTER. According to the Readme, there is possibly a conflict with a memory resident program. It suggested 1) Disable EMM386, and 2) change the order in which device drivers and TSRs are loaded. I have done both suggestions and still haven't resolve the problem. 2. I reloaded REV A. Now, it won't let me load 3DS files. 3. I deleted and reinstall the WIN32S directory. 4. I deleted all Newtek paths and files and re-installed REV A. I repeated the process and re-installed REV B. 5. I tried adding and removing windows 32 bit File and 32 bit Disk assesses. 6. I ran the Windows Bootlog — it showed no errors. 7. What I have noticed, and have not altered, are: A. The Config.sys has no EMMExclusions added to the EMM386 command. B. Neither does the [ENH386] section in the System.ini I am at a complete loss. What should I do? I am currently waiting for an upgrade , from NEC, to windows '95. However, all this might do is add to the complexity of the problem. I have thought of moving to a dual boot situation and using Windows-NT for lightwave (and some of my other apps). Help! Help! Help!
