#Amiga/CLI
4 messages in this thread
I am a new and proud owner of an Amiga computer but and having problems with
a few things. The only books I have are the ones that came with the
computer, Introduction to Amiga and ABasiC, and these are unclear to me on my
problem and would appreciate any help I get. My problem: I can't seem to
get into CLI (Command Line Interface). I follow the instructions in the
Intro. to Amiga as closey as I could but alas no avail. I I have an Amiga
with the standard 256k at present but will upgrade in a matter of weeks. Any
help as to getting into CLI would be appreciated. Thanks. Tom Crews

tom:
1) make a copy of your wb disk
2) load up your copy, select the preferences icon
3) in preference click CLI to 'on'
4) click 'save'
5) go back out to workbench window
6) click system drawer, when it opens you should have CLI icon in it.
The more direct method is to hold down control-D when your
disk starts booting up after the screen turns blue.
It will stop the startup-sequence from finishing and you
will end up in the CLI at the 1> prompt.
Can't you also get into a CLI window easier? I forget how. Seems isit is a
simple icon choice.
Go to preferences and select CLI ON. Save that preferences choice to exit. CLI
should now be enabled inside the system file on the Workbench. Some people have
said that they have to reboot after saving from preferences.
