#SideCar
9 messages in this thread
Chris, I have found my sidecar to be very useful. I run a Seagate 32 Meg RLL
Hard Drive in my unit. Re-Boots are no problem. That sounds like a strange
problem with the hardcard. I got the 32Meg for $350. I originally had it inside
replacing the floppy, thus having a no-floppy clone. Boot-ups were a problem
with that arangement as the clone would hang up by not recognizing a floppy. It
would eventually work by rebooting the amiga with an Execute s/startup-sequence
when the startup stopped starting up. Sounds complicated and I never understood
what was happening. Now I have the floppy back inside and the HD sitting on top
with longer cables. I use the SideCar mostly for a box for my HD controller but
I have 6 Meg partitioned to Miz-Dos and run Reflex on it.
David,
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. I still have not gotten any
answer or even a hint of one from Commodore. I am also using my SideCar as a
HD controller box primarily. I have been finding a number of programs that
will address a DH0: but not a JH0: Do you have any suggestions of a way around
this problem. I also run IBM Corner Stone database on the SideCar. Can I run
WordPerfect in the Amiga window…Type a long text string… and the cut it out
and paste it into the IBM Corner Stone text field meant to receive it? I was
hoping that this would handle text formatting problems in the print out of the
reports. If it's possible it will be really neat!!!!
Keep trying!
Thanks Chris A.
Can't help with your other problems Chris, but the hard wired DH0: disk name
can often be changed by using NewZAP (DL 9) to search for and replace the D
with a J throughout the file.
Regards, Larry.
Larry, can I use the NewZap to make PopCli call up my Metacomco Shell instead
of CLI?
I really don't know David… POPCLI has the ability to call up things just by
naming them in the command line. The MCC shell should be included in that.
Regards, Larry.
Larry, I tried the newzap on popcli and blitz and it worked! Popcli now calls
up a shell with A-esc and the buttons on Blitz are for Jh0: and VD0: instead of
DH0: and RAM:
Glad to hear it worked David. NewZap has been invaluable to me many times. You
can change almost anything you want in any file with it.
Regards, Larry.
I don't really know how the clipboard works with WP and transferring to a
Miz-Dos window. THe support of clipboards is inconsistent between programs, it
seems.
Chris,
To get around the DH0: problem, I just have a line in my startup-sequence file
that sez ASSIGN DH0: JH0:, and I can then refernce jh0: as dh0:, works fine.
