Auto Draw inputs

I thank you for your reply to my message I posted on 10-10-87. I have
been aiming to get this message in for some time.
Not being a programmer in any language other than Basic, I can not give an
authoritarian anwser to how I would like to see the programming of a CAD
package work. But what I would like to see is this. I would like to have the
Draw program completely controlled from a "script" file of commands that
could be made using Basic, or any other language for that matter. This would
be from the loading of parts off disk to their determined x-y co-ordinates
on the screen, string placement on the screen with selectable text size and
direction, a line drawn from x-y point to x-y point, etc., in short, any
thing that you could do with the keyboard and mouse, you could do with this
script.
This type of programmability could be a good selling item for Aegis as
well as the Amiga. If Draw could be the tool with which other programs were
designed to control, it would only serve to increase the marketability of
Draw. My drafting vocation is a narrowly specialized one, as so many other
people's, and I do not forsee any CAD packages for my line of work. But with
Draw having the ability of this type of programming, it would allow so many
secondary programmers to write programs, using Draw as the base tool. A
person sells one of these secondary programs, you sell Draw.
Hope to see Draw drawing by its self in the future, while I sit back, watch,
and drink a cup of coffee !!

Sounds reasonable. If we did put message ports into a CAD product, you could
have a script facility that accessed the message ports. I will make sure your
suggestion gets fowarded to the design team.
