Does anyone have any suggestions (software or just 3ds tips) for creating a 3D
mesh of a large plot of land so a designer and architect can view a project
involving hills, flat lands, lakes, etc. prior to finalizing their blueprints.
The mesh has to be revisable so changes can be incorporated quickly.
Thanks in advance for any help.
We get our projects surveyed in AutoCAD with 3D data points. I then connect the
dots with polylines on contour lines, and mesh between these lines in ACAD. In
plan view these meshes can be stretched to match land features such as roads.
Export to 3DS, map, and you're off.
The best program I've seen for this is Form-Z, but I think it's only for the
Mac. It's an amazing 3D-modeler. For sites, you just draw the site outline and
the contour lines, and tell it the height interval. It gives you many optiones
towards how to build the model. Hope this help.
