Amiga 2000!
18 messages in this thread
Does ANYBODY know of a place that has A2000 that has reasonable pricing,
honors the A1000 -> A2000 upgrade from CBM (with the option to "buy Back"
your A1000), HAS THEM IN STOCK NOW!, and ships fast? If so, please drop me
some E-Mail. I am desperatly TRYING to find someplace that has A2000's
in stock!
Thanks for ANY help!

I bought my A1000 fromputer Mail Order in Williamsport PA. I called them on
November 14 about the Amiga 2000. They will take a serial number for your A1000
and sell you an A2000 for $1299. This is $500 below their selling price for
the machine. They did not have the Bridge Card in yet, and guessed it would
sell for about $600. They advertise in Compute Gazette and other places and
have always given me good service.
Thanks Bruce But, I had read a message from someone that said that
he had purchased an A2000 from Computer Mail Order. When the A2000
arrived, it was a DEMO UNIT! Dent in the power supply and all!
Besides, I can purchase an A2000 for $1300 from Abel Supply without
a trade in. The $1300 is their regular price. I guess that I will
just have to wait until they get their next shipment in! Oh, well..
But thanks for the INFO!

I am surprised that they sent a demo. The price I quoted was $100 too high (I
remembered wrong). Where is ABLE SUPPLY. Perhaps I sd talk with them and
place my order. I feel like I am getting squeezed by the deal. I would dearly
like IBM compatibility, but who knows how much stuff besides the bridge card
one will need to have this. However, I was notified only last week and time is
running out. Some local A1000 dealers here may not even carry the A2000.
Bruce
Bruce,
Abel supply is in Tennesse. If you are interested, let me know and I
will dig out the phone #. Unfortunatly the too are also out of A2000's.
But, the expect them in on the 25th or so. We are in a hurry and I was
trying to find someplace else that had them. But, I guess that I just
might have to wait for them to get them in. They seem to have the
best deal!

Thank you. Iwould like the phone number or at least the location so that I can
call long distance information. Another place worth trying might be the Tussey
Mountain Computers in State College, PA. I have also dealth with them for
software, but not hardware. There really is a Tussey Mountain, I went to
college in that area.
Bruce…Abel's Phone # is (615) 428-5100.
The problem with Tussey is that 1. They charge extra if you use a
Mastercard or visa. 2. I live in PA so that means there would be tax!
So that rules them out!
But Thanks!!!

Doug, what is that deal?…Dave
$836 plus your Amiga 1000 serial Number gets you a A2000.
– Doug –
Doug,
If they are really selling them for that price (836+serial number) they
are crazy…because they aren't making any money at all. That may be a moot
point thou….from all the information I've heard lately (NOT official
information!!)….mail order dealer's will no longer have access to A2000's
from CBM (and there are no more dealer reps). If they want to sell them at
all…they'll have to try to locate one via the grey market and their costs
will be even higher yet.
Don
We _ARE_ talking about >B< 2000's, aren't we? –Ben–
Ben,
Yes…B2000's
Don
Don,
All that I can tell you is what they told me! I have done many a
transactions with them and have NEVER once had any trouble!
– Doug –
Doug,
Hay…it's their store…they can sell at whatever price they want to,
I'd say go for it!
Don
Don,
I can understand your resistance to the deal, I am not so sure that I
still belive it! If it were not for the fact that I have dealt with
them alot in the past, I would not even waste my time with them.
But I have never had any trouble with them. Thats why I am so
optomistic! I hope that you did not think that I was upset at you!?
– Doug –
Check InterComputing in Texas, it's $800 and your 1000. But wait! Did you say
just the serial number?…Dave
Deliver one at my doorstep and I'll write a check.
Otherwise, it sounds too good to be true.
Rick
