#Track Balls for Amiga

Has anyone seen any track balls for the Amiga? I'm looking for a track ball
that could be used in place of the mouse (it would need two buttons too). I
could get an Atari compatable that works like a joystick and then somehow get
the Amiga to accept joystick input instead of the mouse input but I'd rather
not. I've been using a similar aragement on a Mac and have gotten very used to
it. Sure helps when the desk is all cluttered and I don't have room for a
mouse.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, the Atari track ball works very
nicely with the Amiga (after a few mods). I think the directions are somewhere
in DL11. I made the mods in about one hour. My only complaint is I just can't
quite set the buttons in a good (ergonomically speaking) location. All in all
though it cost me about 20 bucks, 14 for the track ball and 6 for the other
parts (switches and wire). Not too bad and probably cheaper than a new mouse!

There is a track ball commercially sold for the Amiga. I saw one in a price
list available on Plink. I know nothing more. I am using a Roller Controller
that I got at on sale from Coleco for a second input with Marble Madness. I
much prefer the mouse, which gives its player a big advantage.

Jim: I'm only passing along the idea. I wired it up so it looks like a mouse
but it still is pretty standard. In fact I can still use it as a joystick if I
want. Now if they are selling these trackballs for less than $20 then I think
it's great; otherwise I am very satisfied with my Atari trackball.
