If the interpreter is half decently written at all, it should be
comparable to the speed you get from an Apple LaserWriter, which, though
slow, is not as slow as what I've heard about GhostScript on the IBM. You
must realize that in addition to the brain damage designed in to the Intel
chips, GhostScript came from the code of Richard Stallman, who is not known
for writing anything small or fast.
Yes, the results will be interesting to say the least! There are probably a
lot of Amigas out there waiting to see waht will happen!
Are you looking at making a postscript to dot matrix program aka plot2print? Or
looking to make a front end for non-postscript laser printers?
There really isn't a lot of difference. It's just a matter of scaling the
output to match the resolution of the printer, building the appropriate sized
bitmap, and dumping the result in straight graphics.
I probably won't be doing the port, or at least not all of it, but a few
friends will be.
