Has anyone had any problems getting certain Control Panel settings to work?
I don't mean problems saving them, I mean you set them and they don't seem
to do anything. For example, I am having troubles getting the mouse speed
settings to work. I set the mouse for the fastest speed and it stays just
as slow as the tablet setting. Any takers?

Please be informed!!! ALL AMAX USERS !!! After many years experience
with a variety of systems that I have worked on (Mac's being one of them),
when you save the control panel settings, do the following. DO NOT CLOSE
THE WINDOW WITH THE CLOSE GADGET!!! Exit the control panel by closing the
window from the menu, or use Quit form the menu. If you close the window
with the gadget it will not save the settings, even on a Mac. THE SAME
APPIES TO THE CHOOSER FOR PRINTER SELECTIONS!!! Use the Quit from the
menus. Try it and you will see. No other programs are necessary for this to
work.

I've never had a problem with Control Panel or Chooser settings getting
lost on a real Macintosh and I always close the window with the close
gadget! I'm gonna have to try installing Mac Plus system software on the
AMAX-II – I go into the Control Panel, change the mouse speed settings,
click on another Control Panel icon, go back to the mouse settings and the
change I just made is gone! Weird…

I know what you mean! It seems to also dependant on which drive you
satrt from. Mine seems to work fine set up as an SE.

I made a new startup-disk and everything seems to work fine now…control
panel settings are even saved!

Alright! now we're getting somewhere. I'm Glad that worked for you. I
haven't had many problems w/AMAXII with the exception that it can't access
the C-Ltd hd because of the controller.
Have a good time with it. My only other problem is I need a driver for the
NEC pinwriter to get any mac type printouts.

Ward: There are a couple of vendors out there that make Mac drivers for
just about every printer under the sun! I can get the names of a couple if
you can't find 'em…

Yes I would definitely be interested. I checked the MAUG's and there
were none. I have an NEC P5200 and it is supposed to be Epson LQ compatable
but I think there are enough differences for my output to be garbage. With
Prowrite the NLQ fonts work great and the others not built in come out nice
to if used at 24Pt. and reduced at least 50%. Have them propose a price, if
any, before doing it.
