I miss that magazine, too. The contents were mainly for techies, but it
was interesting to have a technical manual for Commodore computers at our
finger tips. I had just begun to receive the new Amiga Transactor when it
went. Anyhow, I hope that'll find another replacement soon. Are there any
Amiga magazines that lean towards programming and technical projects?
Chris O'Regan PS Are they available in Canada?

Chris,
AmigaWorld has announced that they will have the AmigaWorld Tech Journal,
beginning in March. I know that they are hard at work getting it ready,
and I think you'll find it quite technical. I've heard rumors of others,
but I know that this one will appear.

Amazing is also talking about running a tech mag up the flagpole.

It will be interesting to see if they do one. Have you heard much about
their plans? When could we expect to see the first issue?

How much do you think the subscription will cost? I am already receiving
Amiga World. Do you think they will send out free copies of the first
iissue to Amiga World subscribers? There is a magazine called Amazing
Amiga. It sometimes has quite a lot of information. I was looking at this
month's issue. Not much for programmers. I looking at the new products,
but I prefer to learn how to operate my computer.

Chris, I have no odea, and I'm not sure that the price has been set yet.
The AmigaWorld Tech Journal will come with a disk included each month, so
it will probably cost a bit more than AW. It costs to make a disk and mail
it out. So – I cannot even guess what it is, but I suspect it will be
announced pretty soon in an issue of AmigaWorld.

I hope to see it soon. BTW, I mentioned to my dad that I was speaking to a
writer of the late Transactor (you, that is) and he wanted to know why tthe
magazine folded. Do you know why?

Chris,
No – I don't know all of the reasons, but mostly, there was simply not
enough money to keep publishing. Several setbacks were just too much for
them to overcome. The final blow came when the magazine was offered for
sale, it was bought by an English company, and that company immediately
proceeded to kill it off – slowly and painfully. It had the right editors
and the right material, but needed more capital, more advertising, etc.
If you look around, you will see LOTS of former TRANSACTOR writers in the
AMiga Forums.
