#Lattice link problem

I've tried to compile it in several different places (RAM: DH0: etc.).
They all meet with the same error (605 Cannot open with file
'"HelloWorld'). I tried something tonight… I booted from the original
Lattice disks and compiled with that interface (instead of booting and
running off of the hard disk). Everything went fine. No errors at all. It's
really strange. I've even taken out all of the stuff I usually run at boot
up time and still get the error. I'm gonna call SAS tomorrow to see if they
can help me. Don't know how that will go though as I am not using the
latest (their) version.

I have been trying to get the frazzeled brain cells to function in hopes of
remember what it is that can cause the problem that you are seeing.
BTW, I believe that SAS's official stance is that they only support their
latest version (though I am ceratin that your problem has nothing to do
with the version number).
Make sure that you have a "path HD0:lc/c" or whatever. Check all of your
assigns….. my feeble mind is trying to tell me that it is something so
obvious that one tends to not notice it for days!

Yes, I have "path DH0:lc/c add" in the startup sequence. At first I
thought that could be the cause. I quickly learned that wasn't it. 🙂
I think it's something overly obvious as well… and I've checked
everything I can think of.
Appreciate it if you could give me a holler if you happen to remember.

Like Bill said, I believe SAS's policy is to only support "their"
version, which I personally feel is bad policy. However, I have met the
person doing the support for SAS and he seems quite reasonable, so he may
be able to help you.
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing your problem. Are you sure you
have all of the assigns set up in your startup sequence and have your path
set correctly? You might want to compare the startup sequence on the
Lattice distribution disk(s) with yours and see if you're missing
something.

I got lost on this thread <grin>. Are you talking about C or C++? If
C++, SAS doesn't have one, did not pick up the Lattice version. I don't
know if they handle tech support on it or not. However, if you're talking
C, SAS tech support does support versions prior to 5.1 — I spent about 45
minutes on the phone with them a couple of days ago.

I was talking about the C product (I know they don't acknowledge the old
C++). I had forgotten that you had called them about your __asm problem
under 5.05. I know that their official, published policy (as stated on the
card I received in the mail couple of days ago announcing the support phone
number) says that they will only be providing support for the 5.1 release.
As I said in my previous message, having met the person providing the
primary support (the person to whom you talked), I wouldn't be surprised if
support were provided for the previous version.
I ended up calling the support line today with a list of 5 problems.
Unfortunately, Jim was out sick, so I didn't really get any answers. Guess
I'll have to wait till Monday. Argh! (I hate when that happens :-).
