Hello, I noticed you had uploaded a image of one of these bottles, if you still have the package file and some example equations for doing these bottles, would you mind sending them to me? I have mathematica version 2.21 for dos, I have looked on internet and have looked through wolframs sites and I don't know of any other internet site that archives package files and example equations. Thanks! John Bailey 71011,1327

Hi John, does Mathematica outputs some sort of file that can be used in 3DS to construct a polygonal object (DXF or at leat vertex locations?) How does Mathematica compare with MapleV specially if you are not a mathematician? Thanks, Arturo

Yes mathematica will output dxf files that 3d studio can read in directly on my version this is how I do it, lets take a real example: In[1] := <<tube.m In[2] := Show[tube[{4 Cos[t + N[Pi]] / 3 + 2 Cos[3 t], 4 Sin[t] / 3 + 2 Sin[3 t], Sin[4 t] + Sin[2 t] / 2}, {t, 0, 2 Pi, 90}, .25], Boxed->False] Out[2] := Graphics3D If you input the above equation you will get a knot object drawn to the screen. To get a DXF file, you do the following: change the very first line in the equation from 'Show[tube etc etc' to: 'gr := Show[tube etc etc' then type: <<Utilities`DXF` then type: WriteDXF["knot.dxf, gr] the above will display the object then write the dxf file. hope this helps! john bailey 71011,1327

John, The information came from "The Mathematica Journal" Volume 3, Issue 1 Winter 1993, Article "Twisted Tubes" by C. Henry Edwards. The equation is: KleinBottle=tube[{x,y}, {2, 1/2}] I'll send the tube definition if you don't have it. Jim
