Folks, I hate to be a nag with this second posting, but this is not exactly an obscure program I'm having problems with and sole response to first posting leaves me thinking I'm seeing things… TO WHIT : DPAINT III sez (in manual) its Coordinates ORIGIN (e.g. 0,0) is at the TOP-LEFT… yet when I turn on COORDS I find TOP-LEFT is 0,200 or 0,400 and that ORIGIN is at BOTTOM-LEFT… I am trying to move DPAINT images into Director which wants 0,0 at TOP-LEFT. I have DPAINT III 3.01. Will someone PLEASE go in, run DPAINT III, turn COORDINATES on and move pointer to TOP-LEFT and tell me if you get 0,0… if so I guess I've got to chase down EA or mebbe I missed a revision or something. Is this just a TYPO in the manual ? Is there a parameter or option I am missing ? -tnx – da – via Whap!

Daryl, Yes, when you go into dpIII and turn on coordinates, the origin point of 0,0 is in the lower left corner. If you go to the bottom of the same Prefs menu that turns on co-ordinates, you'll see an option OriginUL. The UL stands for Upper Left. David

Thanks David, Turns out (via EA) that I need version 3.21 but have 3.01 which does not allow UL origin pref. – da – via Whap!

OK, I did what you asked and my DPaint-III has 0,0 in the BOTTOM-left corner. I have version 3.01. Hope that helps.

Christopher, Thanks – If you follow thru this thread you will see that you (and I) need version 3.21 to get the coords correct, message elsewhere from EA describes how to get it. – da – via Whap!

The current version of DPaint III is 3.21 you can obtain it by sending in your 3 original disks and a little note to Customer Warranty, P.O. Box 7578, San Mateo, CA 94403-7578. Read my reply to your previous posting as well. Orlando/EA:HQ

Daryl, My reply to you was in error….what you say is correct. However, if you hold the left mouse button down, the coords are temporarily reset to 0,0 at the initial position of the cursor. Sorry for not checking out the veracity of the manual. Michael

Michael, No Problem – I was pretty confused by the contradiction between the manual and what I thought I was seeing – I have since found out from EA (see threads elsewhere) that I can upgrade to 3.21 (we have 3.01) for free by sending in my disks, will be doing so today. – da – via Whap!
