Is there much chance of Access adding ZModem support in an update? I have
not heard much about Access recently, and was wondering. I am registered.
Your best chance of seeing this happen is to write an impassioned letter to

If you expect a reply, make sure to enclose a SASE.
I have mentioned the need for a couple of changes to Access about 7.26
million times to him over the last year (I work at the same company he
does). He has quite a few things competing for his attention, and Access
is not currently very high on that list. However, it is possible that if
enough Access users got on his case, he might spend a weekend adding Zmodem
or maybe saved font support (my particular pet peeve).
Or, possibly, someone might beat him to the punch with something better.
Only time will tell.

Thanks a bunch for the curent address and other info, Ariel. I will write
him. Do you happen to know if there is a way to eliminte the problem of
the top menu bar blocking off the first line of text in most BBSs, during
each new screen? Most Sysops like to show off and start each page from the
top of the screen after blanking out the previous one, which is a P.I.T.A.
if using Access. <g> I like this TErm prog. best of all I have seen, it
would be real nice to be able to use it or one similar if it was usable in
all situations, which it is not now.
Thanks again.
John, over at the right side of each menu bar (top and bottom) there are
arrows that point up or down. By clicking on the arrow on the top bar, it
moves down to the bottom. My top line is ALWAYS clear. Or did I
misunderstand what you needed?
Betty
No misunderstanding, Betty. But when I do that, I still have a blank bar
(gray) across the top. It might just be the version I have. I have another
version of Access that maybe doesnt have this problem. Unfortunatly, it
isnt set up like the one I use. A friend set up the one I use so that it
works. I dont know how to make the other one work!
Anyway, I am pretty sure the blank bar I have still blocks out the first
line of text, which is the problem I am talking about. If you know how to
get rid of the bar totally, do let me know. The version I have does say it
is 1.42. I dont know why there is this posssible apparent discrepency.
John, I don't know what is causing it. I only know that my own version
works differently. 1.42 is the latest version available, but I'm still
using 1.4. Wish I could help.
Betty
John –
You have the gray bar because you have the 'menu bar' option turned on
(I forget which menu item it's listed under). That selection gives you the
choice of having the bar (for screen-lowering purposes) or turning it off.
Turn off the 'menu bar' option and it'll go away.

John:
I've seen so many beta versions of Access that I'm not sure which features
belong to which versions anymore. I don't remember having a problem with
the menu bar blocking text, so I'm not really sure how to approach your
problem. In at least one of the versions, it was possible to relocate the
top graphics button bar to the bottom of the screen, where it would
alternate with the bottom button bar. To do this, you click on the arrow
button on the far right. In some versions this did not work, as I recall,
but I think it did in 1.42 (the last public release).
You know, I liked Access too. In fact, for the last year and a half I've
made it my sworn duty to make sure Keith sees me using someone else's term
program, just to annoy him. ;^) So far it hasn't accomplished much
development on Access, but I do feel a bit better. <G>

To turn off the title bar (gray bar across the top of the screen)
all you need to do is: 1) click on the 'DEFINE' menu item 2) click on the
"Title Bar" option (right side of screen) 3) click on the "Save" item These
steps have eliminated that problem from my system, using 1.42

I have a hack that will allow you to patch (or 'kludge') Access to use
Zmodem. I believe it's available here somewhere.
