Howdy, I'm looking for a software only frame accurate tape controller that will work with my matrox editing suite. Matrox suggested SOFT VTR and I'm looking into it, But at almost a $grand$ I'm wondering if there's a low cost alternative to 3D tape output software? Any help would be great, Thanks, JaMeS J. James, As far as I know SoftVTR is about the only software based one that's gonna cut it. I use it quite a lot at work and have never had a problem with it. It is expensive I agree, but it's still less than any hardware based controller. If you have the budget or slot in your PC, a hardware based controller and quick pass is a much "faster" solution. It often takes me several hours to lay down an animation to a Sony digital Betacam deck frame by frame. With quick pass I think this would take more like 1/2 an hour or less. Good luck. Dave Mennenoh

Thanks for the info, The Matrox has frame accurate hardware in it I guess it's just a matter of springing for Soft VTR. Later, JaMeS L.
