#SCSI vs. IDE

To All,
I am currently looking at purchasing a MICRON 586/100mhz or a GATEWAY 2000
586/100mhz. Both use almost the same components:
100mhz chip
Intel neptune set
16 mb RAM
4x CD-ROM drives
3.5" floppy
Tape Back up
14.4 Internal modem
PCI video cards and busses
etc…
The only main difference is that MICRON uses a SCSI interface on the I/O
Controller and Hard Disk, etc. and Gateway uses IDE.
What, if any, are the speed advantages of SCSI vs. IDE. This would be MY main
concern between the two.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd opt for the SCSI. First off because all the high capacity faster drives are
SCSI and second off because you can typically add at least 7 devices including
tape backups like Exabyte and SCSI CD-ROM's etc. which means you don't need
seperate controllers which means less money and more space on your motherboard.
Overall I like Micron's better anyway, so if you're getting a SCSI controller
with it for the same price, you're getting a pretty good deal.

Any particular reason for Micron??
