Why, no. But keyboard access dies when you use the 16i.

SOTA said that the XT BB does not allow remapping of the BIOS to 16 bit
memory. And the 16i will not work without this remapping….
Still waiting for my money back…. And if I can't find a way to put in
another slot I'm trading it I for an AT BB….

The tech staff at SOTA seemed pretty competent and polite to me when I was
one of the 'earlier' bb + SOTA 386si users. They seem to have become
suprisingly familiar with the bb.

Ron,
That whould be correct, it was one of there dealers that is making me
wait over a month for my refund on the 16i.
Fred E. PS they didn't know about the AMouse fix either, but I told them
and posted it on their BBs.
Good. And eventually Commodore will probably make an official fix, but its
good that there is one. I just wish I'd known about it a lot sooner! 🙂

So that is the fix for the 386/Amouse problem. Are there any other
problems with that board?

Just the 16i and timeserv.
I use Timeserv, is there a fix for that? Sorry if this has already been
covered, but I was thinking of getting a SOTA 286 board, but if the
problems are solved I'll get a 386.

Most people have a multipurpose card for the bb side, so timeserv isn't all
that important (besides there is the way to get around it). But Amouse is
obviously usable with the workaround (or Janus 2.1, probably, when it
arrives). So get the 386si, IMHO.
BTW, do you remember if its possible to put a com2 into a bb? I seem to
remember that being an issue for you.

Yes, I am using COM4 in fact. Wasn't COM2 reserved for Janus
areads/awrites?

It's a memory add on board that attaches to the 386si. It is not usable
with the bb at this point.

Ah, ok, that's not a problems for me. I have a multi-purpose card that
includes memory, RS232 port, serial port etc.

I'm also thinking of getting the SOTA 386si. My multi-function card, an
AST SixPakPlus, has its own clock.
The 16i is a SOTA memory card which I suppose plugs into or onto the
SOTA 386si.
Plugging a memory card such as the Rambank that I have or others that
are compatible should get you extra memory.

I have an XT BB and a multi-purpose card that works real well but I do need
it to go faster. I use Amouse and Timeserv and would like to keep it all
working…just faster. Life would be so good then.

Fred,
Ken and I talked about putting extra slots in a bridgeboard. Did you
notice what all we talked about? The information might be helpful to you
in putting extra slots on yours.
He also did some hardware hacking to put in extra slots. I'm not that
brave! But perhaps you or a friend could use his technique and/or Jameco
parts to extend the bridgeboard!
