to be misplaced on a label, a name, a word. The content of what is being
offered is wherein the real value lies. Change the focus.
Look around this forum. How many people do you actually know?
How many of these names are mere fabrications?
Please understand what I am trying to say. What is in a name?
If I signed my letter "Bill Clinton" or "Rush Limbaugh," what would you know?
You still would not know if I was the actual person, or one of his staff,
or someone with a similar name, or an impostor.
This is virtual reality. Deal with it.
Evaluate the content and respond accordingly. But names?
A horse with no name. A moon with no name. A virus with no name.
Without a name, they are no less real… or unreal… virtual.
All you need is the number. Right? That's what the UID is for. Right?
You can call me anything you want… but ya duzzn't have to call me Johnson.

There is a lot of political intrigue going on in this forum as elsewhere.
Some of the people you see as antagonists are actually allies of the people
they appear to be attacking. Some of them don't even know it yet.
It reads like a good book at times. A thriller. But please keep your cool.
For what it's worth, I didn't come here to play games.
But I'm going to play this one out.
But I'm not writing the rules.
I'm breaking them.

I understand EXACTLY what these words reveal about me. As you have detected, I
feel that there is no need for the strong words and harsh attitudes that so
often appear in personal communication. I attempt (although often
unsuccessfully) to be polite, tactful and respectful to those that I "speak"
with. Doing otherwise helps noone. (Call me a whimp if you'd like, but my
non-aggressive/non-confrontational attitude has never failed me.)

FWIW, I did recently see a photo of the ASOFT party, and I now do remember
chatting with you. I guess neither one of us made a huge impression on the
other <G>.

More than you'd imagine – from doing business together, meeting them at events
like AU, Siggraph, or Users' Groups, or from chatting on the telephone.

I would then do you the courtesy of addressing you "Bill". I would at least
have the sense of speaking to a "person" rather than the more ambiguous company
name "Animation Nation". I can only think of a couple of cases where people
haven't given *some* colloquial name for people to respond to.

I think there are actually very few antagonists here. Tempers may flare,
problems may reach a high frustration level or discussions may grow heated, but
for the most part everyone here participates because:
A. You can get GOOD help QUICKLY
B. You might, by accident, learn something valuable
C. You have an opportunity to share your experience
D. You can make good business contacts and more of the almighty dollar

But of course!!! <G> My attitude as a forum regular has been to stay cool. If
everyone here tried to re-read and cool down the harsh sounding words before
sending them, the feelings of antagonism might subside a little.

That's likely where the problem lies. I won't pass any judgement on your
decision. As you can probably tell, I'm one who tries, to the best of my
ability, to live with them.

I've still got your entertaining "John's Joint" menu stuck above my desk at
home. That was near the beginning of your stream-of-consciousness, before
everyone's frustration levels went up.
No hard feelings. I am what I am. I don't ask that anyone "be like me", but
at least that we all "live and let live" and be kind to one another. If you'd

Would that be the same Asoft party where we made acquaintance, in Orlando? I've
not seen any photos of that gathering. We did take a camera, just never had it
with us at the right times. Is the photo one of yours, a personal copy? I'd
really like to see some pictures of that event. If you have negatives, or extra
copies, or might consider "loaning" any photos you have, please e-mail your
phone number to me along with a convenient time for you, and let's talk.
You do good on this forum, we all know that. Some of us just need to be sure to
take our Prozac on time so we don't get confused or annoyed or too full of
ourselves and push the send button too quickly, don't we?;-)

I can't tell if your remark was tongue-in-cheek, or what. I didn't mean to
imply that people get "confused or annoyed or too full of ourselves", but
rather that our words might lend themselves to the wrong interpretation.
Re-reading before hitting the send button would just help clear the air in many
cases.

I used to have a German Shepard whose wagging tail had a way of finding the
reset button all too frequently on the old tower model I used to have. At
times, it was not fun when he was happy to see me. <G>

I'll be dancing with training wheels for a few days as I stumble my way
