I am about to install wb2. I appears that the wb2 ROM is installed
opposite to all other chips on the rejuvenator (i.e. pins 1 of the wb2 ROM
is facing the back of the computer. Is this correct?
Also I have a Lucas/Francis and a copy of a pr
AFM2. Can you offer any info about whether to run this program 1st
before the normal WB2 install script?
1) Wire comes off ROM for the Rejuvenator.
2) Pin 1 of the ROM faces the back of the machine, so you are correct – it
is opposite to most other chips on the board. The silkscreen should be
labeled with a 1 at pin 1.
3) What do you mean before the normal WB2 install script? In the
startup-sequence, or actually as part of the install procedure for the 2.0
Workbench installation?
I assume that AFM2 copies the ROM, or part of it to 32 bit memory. In
normal everyday use, I'd put it first, before setpatch. If you are talking
about the install script for 2.0, I'd not use it at all for the
installation and run directly from ROM for that time and then mess with
AFM2 after 2.0 is up and running.

Greg, thanks for the reply. I guess I got confused between the install
procedure (wb2) and the normal startup file called during every wb2 boot.
Everything seems to work ok now. I solved a problem when I called afm2 with
the -2 option (suppose to install the wb2 kickstart rom image into 32 bit
ram). It didn't like this option and would continuously reboot the machine
and never stop! I solved this problem by calling the SaveRom program
provided and then used the -lfilename option to load the kickstart in 32bit
ram.
On another note, I saw a message about 1 year ago whereby someone
porvided a mod to the Lucas hardware which got around the touchy selection
problem of a specific 74×74 chip. Have you tried this mod? If so, do you
this mod might help me get my machine stable above 16Mhz?

Hi Ron
I am the Guy who posted the mod. I had major problems with finding a
7474 that would work in my Lucas and after consulting with a bunch of guys
in the local user group, decided to bypass that rather quirky part of the
design. Brad wanted to make the Lucas a single board add on with a minimum
number of wires to the mother board (none in effect) but that meant he had
to regenerate a clock signal on the Lucas that was easily available on the
A1000 board. The design does'nt ensure the clock comes up in Sync or even
very stable, thus the irritating problems with finding a 7474 chip for U9
that would work. You can bypass this altogether by simply gently lifting
pin 7 of PAL U6 out of it's socket and bending it out and soldering a 30
gauge wire to it and running it over to pin 9 of Row P of the molex
connector on the Rejuvenator if you have one or to Pin 9 of that same molex
connector if you are using the original Kickstart daughter board.
I soldered a small gold socket pin to the molex pin on the Reju board
thus allowing easy disconnection if required. Make sure you solder to the
right side of the molex connector or you could find you have permanently
attached your Reju card to your A1000.
This mod really helps,(at least 10 done in this region) and allowed me
to run my Lucas at 20 Mhz, when previously I could only get 14MHZ before.
You may still have to pick a 7474, but once you find one that works you
should be in the clear.

Thanks for the info! Could you help me find pal u6 (on Lucas?) and and
pin 9 of row p on the rejuvenator. I am afaid I have misplaced my skematics
of the rejuvenator and I don't know if these location are clearly marked on
the respective circuit boards. I plan on trying this mod this weekend.

Thanks I am going to try it on the weekend. Could you help me make sure
that i get the correct pin 9 on row P. I have found row p but I am not
sure which pin is number 9.

Hi Ron
You count from the front of AMI towards the back. The right rear edge of
the daughter board or Rejuvenator.

18 3 18 3 etc. you should be able to get it ok By the way you are
supplying C3* (clock 3 not) to the Lucas board this is the signal that is
being regenerated in a weird way. Lucas works much better if C3* comes from
the AMI itself and ensures proper sync between the ASYNC 68020 and the bus
cycles of the AMIGA which still has all the CoProcessors (Denise Agnus
etc.) running at 7.16 MHZ as designed.

I have a question that perhaps you could answer for me. I just got ahold of
a 1300 genlock that I was planning to use on my 2000. I have a friend who's
using one on his 2000 with a 23pin extension cable and it works great. On
my system (WB2.0 in ROM, ECS Denise) I can't seem to get the genlock to
work. I was wondering if you know if it might be an incompatability with
either the 2.0 ROM, or the ECS Denise?
