HI! Hopefully someone can answer my questions about what has happened here. I have a 2000 (6 meg. +Fat Agnus, ICD AdSpeed, IVS Trumpcard/ Quantum 105 ve). Drive was formatted in May 1990, and has never been reformat I installed 2.04 ROM on a switch-start board along with the old ROM. This works fine. I can boot with either ROM. I used WBupdate on the 2.0Install disk and updated my system files. The drive has only one AmigaDOS partition (and an AMAX partition that i is completely transparent to AmigaDOS). The controller/drive is autobooting. I had a merged Icon (Off.info and On.info) that showed up on the WB screen under 1.3 as my drive ( [C [C [C (dh0: – named Solomon) . The icon showed up under 1.3 as Solomon, and on double clicking, would open up and show me all my directories. After installing 2.04, the system boots from the hard drive, but the icon never shows up on the WB screen I have gotten SID to run, and from there I can access the drive. It shows as being mounted, and can be referred to from Shell as Sys:, DH0, or Solomon. IF I boot from the 2.0 Install disk, and then MOUNT dh0:, an Icon does show up, and can be opened and used, but of course it is not Sys: as I've booted from the Install disk. I've tried numerous things to try to get the icon to show up, to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? Problem #2: I also have been using vdk: (like RAD: only better since it doesn't preallocate memory, and can survive warm boot). Under 2.0, vdk: mounts OK, and can be used, but for some reason doesn't survive warm boot. I love my vdk: can anyone suggest a fix for this too? Thanks, all Saul Hoffman72550,274

Saul, Use VD0: instead. VDk: was nice, but had compatibility problems even under 1.3. VD0: will work and there is a recent revision which fixes some problems on the 3000 with VD0:. I use it regularly without problem. As for the icon problem, I'm not sure what the problem is unless the icon itself is positioned off the screen. If your workbench window's scroll bars don't fill up the window, then you might scroll off to see if your icons are just off the visible portion of the screen.

Steve, Whoa!! You say VD0: has been upgraded to work with the 3000 and 2.0x? I had to dump VD0: and adopt VDK: when I got my 3000 last Christmas. Where is this upgraded VD0:, I would like to see it??? I will say that VDK: works fine 90% of the time or more. Scott – via Whap!

Scott, I believe you will find the upgrade in the AmigaVendor SIG under one of ASDG's uploads. I don't recall if I found it there or somewhere else, but I did find it. I am using it on a 2000 with 2.04 without problem.
