I must confess that currently, I am not an owner of Quarterback but use another backup tool which works quite nicely. I do own, however, Quarterback Tools which I have found to be a very useful product wich performs as advertised. Therefore, I was wondering if the current version of Quarterback did compression as an option (since the next backup tool I buy must do compression)… If so, then perhaps its time to switch, since the other backup tool, I believe, doesn't do compression.

John, Quarterback does not currently do compression. It's intended purpose was for fast and painless hard drive backups. Mark Central Coast Software

That's nice…however, a 105 Meg hardrive backed up to 880k floppies results in over 110 disks! I'd hardly call that painless. In my case, I'd rather sacrifice some speed for reduction in the amount of disks. A streaming tape device is not an option for me. John

John, There should be an announcement of Quarterback 5.0 here real soon, which should address the problem of compression. Mark New Horizons Software, Inc.
