Don, I have an Amiga 2000 which has a mother board rev. of 6.2 so I
carefully cliped off the jumper from the rom. As for the Agnus it's the 1
meg ecs Agnus. After leaving a message on Cis I decided to put the old
Denise back in it's place with the 2.04 rom/software and found I was able
to get all my colors back/ham pictures looked good. Possible I got a bad
chip. As I do work with electronic components at my work I made sure to
observe static precautions. If you come up with some other information
about Denice please let me know. I'll wait a couple of day's then I'll try
to return the chip to the vendor and get another chip. Thanks for your

Yup…I'd suspect you got a bad ECS Denise. I've had one in my
A2000 for a year or so and it works flawlessly.

I'm not really clear how ECS Denise works. With the new Denise installed,
will I be able to simply hook up a Multi-Sync monitor to my A-2000 and have
the new graphics modes available? I am currently running ADOS 2 from
software. I don't plan to install the rest of the chip set.
If this is the case, does this mean that the video card from CBM and others
like Flicker Fixer will not be necessary. If they are needed which
functions are enhanced by Denise and which are improved by the video cards?

Bill,
NO. The ECS Denise does NOT deinterlace the video. It simply adds
a few more modes (like 1280 x 400).
To deinterlace, you still need a FlickerFixer type add-on.
The ECS Denise does not require a VGA (or multi-sync) monitor.

Thanks for the prompt response. Then I guess that means the A-3000 has the
CBM equivalent of the FF built in?

Yes…the 3000 has the CBM de-interlacer built in.
