#Lil Rock Amiga User Grp?

I have a friend in Little Rock, Ark who owns an Amiga and cannot get it to work corectly. Is there an Amiga User's Group in that town?

Rob, No idea. Has your friend tried a local dealer? While the dealer may or may not help (depends on the dealer)…they usually know about local users groups. Don

Don, His dealer was not much help according to him. Deals primarily in MS-DOS stuff but another dealer answered and I am going to refer him to them. thanks

Rob: According to the Amazing Guide, there is a group called Ark:Amiga that meets at the Metropolitan Voc. Tech. Center in Little Rock on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7pm. The contact person is Greg Eanes (501) 666-8934. I have no idea as to the correctness or currentness of this, but it is out of their Summer '91 issue. Hope this helps. Clint <VRLI>

Rob, I know that there is an Amiga User's Group there, but I cannot tell you how to reach them. I met some members from there at an Amiga show here in the Dallas area a year or so ago, and they seemed to be really enthusiastic. One of the people I met worked for an AMiga dealer there. It was not Amiga-only, but they did sell Amigas. Perhaps your friend could find the user group through his dealer? Betty

Thanks Betty, A dealer in little Rock responded to my message and I referred him to that dealer. Just as an aside, the dealer he originally bought his Amiga 2000HD from had his hard drive partioned into 3 parts named dh0, Fh1, & Fh2. Are Fh1 & Fh2 valid device names?

Rob, I suppose you could set up the devices with whatever names you wanted, but DHn: is far more common, and most of our software expects that. I would not have considered it wise to name them Fhn. Of course, my floppies are mounted as both dfn: (for AmigaDOS) and Mhn: (for CrossDOS) and they don't care which name I use. Thanks for helping out with the name of the Little Rock dealer. I have a soft spot for Little Rock. I was born there, and still have many relatives in the area. I think it's a beautiful place.

For a little while, when the 2090a controller was Commodore's best controller, 2000HD and 2500s where being factory configured with a DH0 (old_file_system; to boot from with the 2090a) and FH0 & FH1 partitions (F means fast_file_system, at least to me). FH0 & FH1 are definately valid.

Thanks very much for the info. I had been telling him I thought the hard drive names might have something to do with it, now I know they do not. Hope the dealer who responded to this message gets him straightened out.

Hi! I live in Little Rock, and go to the local user group. The group recently changed it's meeting place. It meets on the SECOND Monday of every month at the St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, in the La Harpe Room at 7:00pm (in Little Rock of course.)
