I am trying to locate a source for a 68000 64pin DIP socket. None of the Amiga dealers or local electronic supply houses carry the part. Any and all input would be appreciated :). I need the socket to elevate the height of the 68000 socket on the 2000 motherboard to plug in an IVS printerface card. Thanks, Norm

just happen to have one handy – you can get one from DigiKey, it is an ARIES part (nice machine pins). only a few bucks from them. they do have a minimum order though, i think. here's the info: DigiKey 1800-344-4539 their part number is: A414 price: $4.41

JDR Microdevices has the standard tin soldertail version for $1.95. The part number is 64PINST. Order number is 800-538-5000 (voice) or 800-538-5005 (fax). They're open M-F 7-5 PST and Sat. 9-3 PST. Mike

You need a machine pin socket to extend the height or the connection will be very fragile, if it can be made at all. The drawback is that the machine pins will weaken tension on the motherboard socket and you will have to leave it in (i.e. just put the 68000 in the socket and leave it in the motherboard). -Greg
