Thanks for your quick response. I tried installing the 3.1 with the jumper,
then without the jumper, then this way, and then that way. All to no avail. I
gave up and brought it to my nearest Amiga Dealer (is that now an oxymoron?).
He had no luck either. Any other suggestions?
I can't imagine what's wrong with your system! That's really strange. I use
Kick 2.04 ROM in an Rev. 6a A500 without the jumpercable. Does anyone here know
if installing the ROM with the jumper could destroy the ROM (assuming that it
is installed in a system which does not need the jumper).
Have You any special internal Hardware installed? Like a turbocard, a
graphiccard or deinterlacecard (in the Denise-socket).

The jumper seems to cause no harm if installed when it's not needed.
The instructions that came with my 2000 upgrade for 3.1 (same chip as for the
500, I believe) were confusing. So I tried it with the jumper first; that
didn't work, so off came the jumper and everything worked just fine.
