Contact Author of POST

Does anyone have a way of contacting, Adrian Aylward, the author of
Post? I have found a problem with it and Postscript files created with
ProPage v2.1. It appears that Post handles the drawing of heavy ruled boxes
incorrectly from the ProPage postscript file. The exact same file output to
a LaserJet III prints correctly as does a Pagestream 2 postscript file
containing the same ruled box.
Here is what I've discovered:
Using ProPage draw a unfilled ruled box with a weight of 4 pts or greater
either as a text or object. The notch is more noticeable at this weight but
it is prevalent in lighter weighted boxes too. Save as a postscript file
and output to Post v1.6 either as an IFF.pic or directly to your printer.
It is easy to see in an IFF (remember to set the page size in Post to x2448
y3204 300dpi). The upper left corner of this box will have a notch in it.
This indicates that the closepath command was not issued, but in the file
you can see that its there. Now if you have a postscript printer send the
exact same file to it. It will print without the notch. Do the same thing
with Pagestream 2 and its postscript file outputs correctly to both POST1.6
and the postscript printer.
Now I'd like to get this info to the author, does any of our UK forum
members know him, or does anyone have a way to contact him other than the
USnail Mail service?

I noticed a bug with the way ProDraw 2.0 handled corners (giving me
bevelled (sp?) corners instead of square (?) ones). I called GD and they
immediately (very unusally for GD, I might add:) sent me PDraw 2.01. This
could be your problem (not sure how it translates in PostScript, why POST
doesn't like it and you LaseJet does, etc.). If you don't have PDraw 2.01,
bug GD about it. There were a number of pesky little bugs they fixed almost
immediately after the release of 2.0, but 2.01 was never announced (given
to reporters of bugs only, I believe).

My problem is with Professional Page and Post I haven't tried the
example with Pro Draw 2.0 but I will now. Thanks for the tip about the
upgrade though.

I tried out the postscript code generated using ProDraw 2.0 and
outputting it to Post 1.6 as an IFF picture. I made several boxes using the
miter, bevel, round, and Butt line joins commands. I got the same problem
with a notch appearing in one of the corners of each box I had drawn. It
appears that Post expects the postscript closepath command to be used in a
certain way and the GD programs write their code differently. Pagestream
2's boxes have properly closed corners when generated by Post. The LJIII
with Adobe Postscript TM cartridge, I tested the .PS files on produced
proper output of the GD files. So it must be something in POST that only
allows the interpretation of the code in a specific less flexible manner.

Don't know if it was PDraw's prolog file or not, but PDraw 2.01 fixed it up
okay for us (we were running on a Lino and getting the problem with the
first corner coming out wrong, but it looked okay on the laser. Maybe the
laser is more forgiving?)

Oh yeah one more thing, The DTPforum has just put ALL the .AFM files up in
LIB 11. There are eight .ZIP files with all of 'em! Now if I could just
find the ABF files. B^)
