#Producing a cd: how?

I am just getting into CD-ROM (I just bought a drive) and I would like to
get information on how to produce a cd-rom. I am looking for information on
how to transfer a database to CD, how to index info on the cd, cost for
getting a single prototype cut, cost for mass production, etc. Can anyone
refer me to information sources: books, manuals, companies (phone #'s)
etc.? Any help is greatly appreciated. -E.Ace.

There are a number of different companies that provide near-turnkey CDROM
production. You provide the data, they provide the disk. It gets more
complicated when you have images or multiple databases, etc. Some of these
companies are quite active in this and the Multimedia forum. to name names:

For Books, check out the Microsoft series: CD/ROM (3 titles?)
There are also several magazines and newsletters. DDRI (703) 237-0682
publishes several "free to qualified subscribers".
I suggest calling several of the companies first. Some (like Nimbus) have
rather nice "How To" guides that explain what is required, etc.
And if you want independent contract help (esp. in the Los Angeles
area)….
