#NASA CD Set

I just got the NASA, Voyagers to the Outer Planets 12 volume CD set. I am
not very impressed with the viewer they supply, it's very difficult to use.
The images are in the either the ODL, (Object Description Language), or
VICAR2, (Video Image Communications and Retrieval), formats.
A quick search here on CIS didn't turn up anything other than a later
release of the same program supplied with the CDROM set, IMDISP. Has
anybody out there found a better viewer for this CDROM set, either for IBM
or Amiga machines? Any tips on using IMDISP?

How much does the CD set cost, and where did you obtain it?

I got the NASA set from a local dealer, not sure if they do mail order or
not:

The entire set, all 12 CDROM discs was $150

Thanks for the information – sounds like a bargain, even if the
access software is not the greatest.

I remember paying about $8(including tax & shipping) a disc for the
"Voyagers to the outer planets". (8 discs set). I bought it directly from
NASA/National Space Science Data Center (or something like that). Can't
remember the address but it's at the Goddard (spelling?) space center.
Magellan CDROMs are also availables. I think it's like sixty something
discs and so far about twenty discs were realesed.
I think I can dig up its e-mail address if someone really need the info.
For you guy who has Internet access, just telnet to that address.

The address is NSSDC.GSFC.NASA.GOV [128.183.36.25] and login as NSSDC. This
is will get you to the Master Directory system. You'll then be asked for
the name and mailing address, just for the record… Though, I never
succeed in finding any info I need this way. The best way is to e-mail to
"request@nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov".
BTW, did you say 12 discs in the Voyager series? How come I have 8? Just
for the sake of checking… 1-3 are Uranus, 4-5 are Saturn, 6-8 are
Jupiter. What are 9-12?
Correction to my previous posting, as of September there're 5 discs in the
Magellan series… eventually there will be about 50. I think the cost is
$20 nominal fee plus $6 per disc… or something like that.
