#Custom Palette/Embosed
5 messages in this thread
Note: I think my last message got lost so here it is again.
I'm useing release 4 and Animator Pro.
I created a custom palette as per p8-117. When I did a test render I got
dot patterns on my unassigned black background, why? It's not there if I use
Med palette!
I did a series of tests (Shadows, Auto Reflec, motion Blur, Shading) to try
and cut down my rendering times, and harly got any difference… I only
rendered one frame out of 450 that took 3:40. (5 bones from viewpoint with a
bump map surface). Do I have to render more than one frame or is the one frame
a good hallmark?
I was following the video tape "2D Shaper" Embosed letters/Creating Materials
Maps with 2D Shapes, and everything was fine till we got to selecting and
cloning down. The first move was fine, but after that I got a "NOT ENOUGH
VERTICES AVAILABLE". I started over with plain type but got the same message,
Help!!!!
Thank you in advance…………………… Marv.

Do the dots show up in the exact same place each time? Or if you render the
same frame, will the dots be in different locations each time. Have you saved
to a file and looked at the image in another software package? Are the dots
still there?
What kind of video card and driver are you using?

there is a limit to the MAX number of vertices that can be created in the
shaper, however this figure is customizable. In the 3DS.SET file, go to the
section marked 2D SHAPER PARAMETERS and increase the SHAPE-MAX = to a higher
number. The default is 500, but it can go as high as 9999.

<<Dot Pattern>> only happen on render screen (I paniced).
<<test renders>> Truevision Video/VGA card for display and rendered Gif, Flc,
or TGA. I use Targa 16/24 for dumping to video.
In all case's rendering time was 3:41 per frame on a 486 33 even when I used
a Custom Palette. I thought turning off shadows, motion blur, and use of a
custom palette would cut rendering time?
Thanks for the infro on "shape-max=" I'll try that tomorrow. Is there and
problem setting it higher than the default?
Thanks Marvie………………………

If that's the case, and you can live with it, I wouldn't worry about it.

Just takes up memory. You wouldn't want to leave it at a higher setting if you
are not using that module.

<<shape max=>> thanks…. In another words I should set it higher only when I
need to and then reset it back to 500 when I'm done with that job!
<<test renders>> Please give me some imput to my test rendering question.
