#Cel Anim Software

I've just got a program from a company called AXA for the PC that does cel-type ink & paint & camera work from scanned-in artwork. It finishes up with broadcast quality renderings (by that I mean full 24-bit color and anti-aliased). My question is, whyisn't anybody developing similar software for the Amiga? There's a package out there for the MAc too. Amiga is, in my opinion, an animator's computer. How about some professional software to take advantage of this? Jes my opinion.

A friend of mine is developing a system for pencil testing and synching and possibly painting, but that may be done on SGIs instead. The idea is to let the animators use the amigas for the speed and instant feedback, but do the rendering and compositing of faster equipment. He's also interested in Vapor Paint, but that's got a different philosphy. (The one here is rather old, but since I've gotten no feedback from CI$ users on it, I'm not inclined to upload a new one…) It's in "Graphic utilities" I think. j h h lowengard, author of Vapor Paint.

I thought Vapor Paint was cool, and had a lot of potential, but the interface is too strange for me, and certainly too strange for many Amiga users. If you showed any inclination towards making it a commercial product, and cleaning up the itnerface, I'd think you'd have seen a greater response.

Henry….Look for my Pencil Test Adpro/Arexx Script to do EXACTLY that matey

That sounds great, but why not let an accellerated Amiga do the coloring and compositing as well? What about the smaller companies that can't afford SGI systems? I've seen some very impressive animation (3-D type) done with a PC, as well as the Toaster. I'd like to see more cel-type 24-bit stuff output from the Amiga.

Glenn There's Already a prg like that for the Amiga called Disney Animater it's also avail for the IBM realm as well. Then we have Dpaint and a myriad of others to do Cel Animation including the Animation Station MIDGARD GRAPHICS

Disney's Animation Studio is a really nice program for putting together \animation, but it really has no 24-bit ink/paint section. That and DPaint are okay for desktop and hobby animation, but for the most part isn't good enough for broadcast quality. If either program supported full 24-bit color (especially Disney's which I have and really like) there'd be a professional application for them.

I see yer point but if you use 24 bit Color pics you might as well use Imagemaster or Adpro or even Dare I say DCTV Paint(or Brilliance once it's released) You can still use Dpaint or Disney' Animation prg for the Pencil Tests and then use Imagemaster's Anim Frame Loader coupled to a AREXX Script for automaticlally working on consecutive frames MIDGARD GRAPHICS

I remember seeing an ad in Amiga World a few months back for an aniamtion package. It looked like it was from overseas, had some character animation running down the side of the ad. I didn't pay much attention. What you're saying is true. I was just wondering if there wasn't a single package that did most of that stuff autmatically (like AXA'a Producer). Something to speed up the ink & paint & composite process.
