#Word Processor Opinions?

After perusing the the word processor market (and starting this thread)
I decided to give excellence! a try. I've just got it and I must say that
I'm a little disappointed that rather than rewriting the manual with OS
2.x graphics, your company chose to add an addendum at the beginning of an
older version's manual. The software itself looks very nice, and I look
forward to using it. I was hoping that it would easily handle all 35
adobe type fonts included in many laser printers, rather than just Times,
Helvetica ,Courier and Symbols (do you know of any way to obtain .metric
files for Schoolbook, Helvetica Narrow, Avant Garde, Chancery, Bookman,
Palatino, and Dingbats – at a reasonable price?).

I wonder if the .metric files that PPage uses would also work with
excellence!? Those I believe are all available with the program. I'll
check it out later just to be sure. I don't own excellence! so I can't
really answer it myself.

Yeah, you can convert Propage fonts with the conversion utility,
or you can DL some from our BBS (407)790-0774…
on our BBS the file is POSTSCRIPT.LZH, and when you extract
uuse the option to preserve directory structure and extract it
to your fonts: directory.
Remember that using converted fonts you set the pitch to 10 not
15, and you need to set the tooltype SCALE to 80.

I realize that I can convert PPage fonts, but they aren't true native
Adobe postscript versions, I assume that they are Intellifont versions, so
that when dumped to a postscript printer without some kind of alias file,
they will default to courier (unless you know something that I don't
know). I can't believe I'm the first (or only) one to want to do this?
