I'm looking for animation software. So far all I've seen on the market is AutoDesk Animator, which I expect to be expensive, and PC Animate +. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have no way of knowing where to purchase AutoDesk products because I never see them advertised or in a catalog.d

Donald: The reason you don't see Animator Pro and 3D Studio in a catalog is that they are only sold through authorized Autodesk MultiMedia dealers. Call Autodesk for the MMdealer nearest you. Can anyone listening add the 800 number for him? The best I can do from memory is the (415) 332-2344, but it will get there. Or, if you are in southern California, you can give us a call… <g> Greg

Call 800/879/4233 for the location of your nearest Adesk MM dealer. – G

Autodesk Animator (currently known as the Multimedia Explorer) is not all that expensive ($199 — or something like that — full retail). The Animator Pro is more expensive (around $800 full retail). The multimedia explorer can be purchased from your local software shop most likely, or you can order it directly from us by calling 800-228-3601. To get a referral to a dealer for the higher end Autodesk multimedia products, call 800-879-4233.

Phil: I just got my AniPro 1.3 upgrade the other day. Looks like neat and useful new features… I had no idea this was coming out. Were there some notices and ads that I missed, or is Autodesk selling so many copies that they don't need to hype the release <g>? C#

I'm not really sure how this update was promoted. We often rely on our dealer chain to push the updates. Sometimes there's a general mailing to the registered owners. I'm glad you like the update; it does add some useful stuff.

I'm with Craig. AAPro 1.3 is a secret. If you relied on my dealer, you still wouldn't have my order. "Here, take my money, call Autodesk and ask for Ani Pro 1.3", "Okay" (says the dealer). If I relied on my dealer – I might not be in business. Chuck Jameson Silver Tongue Software
